He has released 350 albums to date, including the "Free Soul" "Cafe Apres-midi" "Mellow Beats" "Good Mellows" "Jazz Supreme" and "Music Scenery" series.
Toru Hashimoto (SUBURBIA), who supervised the compilations mentioned above, has been providing music listeners with guidance as a music selector since the 90s. Based at Shibuya's Cafe Apres Midi, he continues to receive overwhelming support for his various music suggestions that add color to everyday life. Now in his 30th year as a compiler, he is finally starting a new compilation series.
His partner is graphic designer Jiro Fujita, known as FJD, who has worked on the artwork of numerous music albums. His design work can be seen all over Tokyo, from jazzy and mellow beats works by Nujabes to works by artists such as Calm, Sakura Fujiwara, and Keisuke Kuwata, to architecture, hotel lobby art, and shop logos.

The new compilation series "Incense Music", with song selection and supervision by Toru Hashimoto, artwork by Jiro Fujita, and mastering by Calm, a top Japanese artist who is highly acclaimed overseas for jazz, chill out, and Balearic music, will be released by Incense Music Works in March 2024 (which also marks the restart of Suburbia Records).
The selection of songs by Toru Hashimoto for a relaxing living space based on the theme of "Scents and Music" blends ambient, jazz, chill out, balearic, post-classical, jazzy and mellow beats, and features newly recorded material by artists trusted by Toru Hashimoto (the first release in the series, "Incense Music for Bed Room," features a cover of Pharoah Sanders' "Moon Child" by Uyama Hiroto and a homage to Bill Evans' "Soiree" by haruka nakamura), as well as beautiful jacket artwork originally drawn by Jiro Fujita.
