Tetsuro Yashiro, whose latest album "Free Soul" has been a great success and who is deeply trusted by music lovers of various genres as a singer-songwriter and jazz pianist, covers "Morning Song," an insert song from Goro Miyazaki's 2011 film "From Up on Poppy Hill," composed by Hiroko Taniyama and sung by Aoi Teshima.
This piece is a perfect recreation of the cute jazz number, used impressively in the film, in an upbeat 4-beat jazz arrangement. The synchronized and wonderful performance and vocals of the "Tetsuro Yashiro Trio" (Katsuhito Suzuki on bass, Ryusuke Kakizawa on drums, and Tetsuro Yashiro on piano & vocals) will surely bring a smile to your face. It's a wonderful cover of a hidden gem among Ghibli songs, rich in jazz elements.

This Ghibli song is a wonderful collaboration between cubismo grafico, the solo project of Gakuji "Chabe" Matsuda, who has been active as an important figure in highly sensitive Japanese indie music culture since the 1990s and expresses his diverse talents in various forms, and Kaori Takeda, a singer who gave a new direction to the music scene in the 2000s as the vocalist of TICA and whose subsequent works have received immense acclaim. It's a cover of "The Neglected Garden" by Cecile Corbel, an insert song from Hiromasa Yonebayashi's 2010 film "The Secret World of Arrietty."
This thrilling masterpiece reconstructs the impression of the original's majestic Irish sound into a groovy & mellow 6/8 rhythm. With diverse drum patterns, freely intertwining piano, and pizzicato accents all blended into the arrangement, a silky yet husky vocal vividly sings. It's the birth of a wonderful cover that brings out a different charm from the original with rich ideas.
